Every thatched building is different: in size, shape, roof levels and overall condition. This means that every thatching job is 'bespoke' and work must always start with a thorough assessment of the property and its requirements. This is where the skill and experience of a Master Thatcher counts.

We show below some examples of buildings thatched by E. E. Sharp & Son, starting with newly thatched properties and followed by pictures where roofs have had time to 'mellow'. Indeed, one of the endearing features of thatch is the way that it changes its character as time goes by, each phase showing its own particular charm.

Testimonials

We are proud of the long history of thatching in the Sharp family and of the many satisfied clients we have been privileged to serve.  Past achievements do not always indicate present performance but, as far as our business is concerned, we are pleased that clients continue to write to us with comments such as:

  • "You have been very helpful and businesslike throughout"
  • "Thank you for seeing to our roof. Your 'boys' were excellent!"
  • "We have had so many people admiring the thatch and many positive comments in the village."
  • "Thank you all once again for doing a wonderful job. It was done quickly and very efficiently. Everything was kept very tidy.
  • "It has been a pleasure to do business with E. E. Sharp over the years - thank you."
  • "Just a line to thank you and the guys for such an excellent, professional job."
  • "The simple, long straw thatch is completely in keeping with the style of the cottage (Grade II listing requirements). The work was carried out on time, efficiently and on budget. Neighbours and passers-by have commented on how attractive the new roof looks and how pleased they are to see a historic building [17th century]  being so beautifully preserved."

Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you.
