Company History

The Sharp family started its thatching business over 130 years ago. It is now in its fifth generation.

Over the years we have thatched many hundreds of properties of all shapes and sizes. We have also trained new thatchers up to 'Master' level, and developed improved techniques appropriate to modern as well as older buildings.

Our workmanship is to the highest professional standards. and our commitment to customer service remains second to none.

Sharps today

Our motto is "Taking tradition forward". Today's customers can be assured of prompt courteous attention, sound advice, quality materials and the highest standard of work - which has been the hallmark of our company since the 19th century.

However, unlike in olden days, we realise that most people today have very busy lifestyles. So we endeavour to make any thatching work we undertake as painless as possible to property owners. We will not leave you with a gaping hole in the roof while we move on to another job! We usually complete agreed work by the promised date, leaving you with a tidy site and new thatch to be proud of.

E. E. Sharp and Son are corporate members of the National Society of Master Thatchers. Scott and Geoff Sharp are both members of the Management Committee of the Society, helping to ensure that high standards are maintained throughout the thatching industry.
